Minors
Minor Championship Grade 4
Badoney V Pomeroy 27th Feb 4pm Badoney Park The minors lost out to Pomeroy in their first league match by the narrowest of margins, the score at the final whistle was 6.05 - 4.12 in favour of the visitors. Badoney started the game strong with some great scores from the ever impressive Kerrie Mc Garvey at full forward. She was aided in her attacking endeavour by Megan McAleer, who also proved a constant threat to the Pomeroy defence through out. The mid field covered much ground, with Captain for the day Paula Coyle leading by example with a spirited effort. Her partner in the middle of the field - Meabh McNulty let her experience shine through setting up many attacks with her flawless distribution. The defence was led by the young Mairead McKenna between the posts with a great performance, and in truth kept Badoney in the tie with many fine saves. Her full back Charlene McClean put in a gutsy display, and kept the full back line tight. There where also solid performances from centre half back Emer McConnell, and right half back Hannah Keenan. All in all the girls fought to the end, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to come away with any points. Despite this, they showed determination and now know what needs to be worked on at training. Keep up the good work girls! Team (13 a-side) Mairead McKenna, Charlene McClean, Breige Hollywood, Sarah Mossey, Emer McConnell, Hannah Keenan, Paula Coyle (C), Meabh McNulty, Donna Murray, Gemma McCullagh, Megan McAleer, Kerrie McGarvey, Geralinde Meenan.
